UNDERSTANDING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN PAIN AND MOVEMENT IN ORDER
TO COMBAT THE FEAR OF MOVEMENT
Following on from some general notions about pain, this article purports to create a parallel between pain and movement. The concepts related to movements which are labelled as painful will then be discussed, making the distinction between pain caused by movement, and pain which limits movement (notion of fear of movement).
There will then be a focus on education, especially concerning some inaccurate beliefs which can be very harmful in the context of chronic pain management.
Finally, some ideas to address chronic pain and consider sustainable solutions for our patients will be suggested.
Keywords: pain, education, fear of movement, movement, sensitization
